Sharing information on opportunities for Vietnamese workers to develop their careers in Germany

With the German labor market’s scarcity of highly skilled workers, this is an opportunity for Vietnamese workers to develop their careers in Germany.

In order to help young people best prepare to work in Germany, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) and Saigontourist Hospitality College (STHC) organized the seminar “Working in Germany” on May 13. The seminar aims to provide information about opportunities, challenges, application process in Germany for foreign workers, the “ProRecognition” and “Hand in Hand for International Talents” projects.

In the exciting atmosphere of the seminar, students and alumni learned from the experts of AHK Vietnam information about the German labor market, the requirements of German employers for foreign skilled workers as well as opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese workers. In addition, they also had the opportunity to listen to practical sharing from Khanh and Tien, two former students of Saigontourist school, and ask them questions. With the support of AHK Vietnam, both have successfully found jobs in Germany and will soon go there to start working in their learned professions. Khanh and Tien shared their experiences with language learning, applying for jobs and the degree recognition process. They also gave some tips and advice for a successful job interview.

Marko Walde, the Representative of AHK Vietnam, said: “We want to give Vietnamese professionals the opportunity to find a suitable job in Germany with a stable income and a professional working environment. This is also one of the main approaches of the German government to attract the qualified professionals from abroad to the German labor market.”

Through the projects of AHK Vietnam, Vietnamese youths can directly approach employers in Germany, receive free German language training up to B1 level, get support in applying for jobs, recognizing degrees and applying for visas, as well as learn about the culture, living and working environment in the country.

As part of the project ProRecognition, a special counselling centre was set up at AHK Vietnam to offer Vietnamese young people free and individual counselling on the recognition of professional qualifications acquired abroad. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). ProRecognition Vietnam advises you on the possibilities of having your professional qualification recognized in Germany, assists you in compiling the documents, helps you with the application process, and answers questions on topics such as Working and Living in Germany.

Project "Hand in Hand for International Talents" is implemented by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, targeting skilled workers in the fields of Information Technology, Electrical – Electronics, Chef and Hospitality. The project supports and accompanies the skilled workers in all steps on their journey to the new job in Germany.
