Delegates and owners of trawlers learnt about regulations and legal procedures for fishing areas according to laws of Vietnam and ASEAN member states.
The work was expected to raise public awareness of fishing regulations, stressing the aim of ending violations in foreign waters.
Reportedly, local owners of trawlers signed a document to commit to not fishing in foreign waters as well as to join hands with functional forces to conduct legal fishing in Vietnam's waters and strictly safeguard the national sovereignty over sea and islands.
On the occasion, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command presented national flags to owners of trawlers and the Kien Giang provincial fishery association.
