Accordingly, the command and relevant organizations held meaningful activities to help islanders and fishermen in the district.
On May 21, a delegation of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command disseminated information about Vietnamese sea and islands, and Laws on Vietnam Coast Guard, and Drug Prevention and Control and other legal documents related to Vietnam's sea and islands. In addition, participants were also equipped with information about illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
In Long Dien town of Long Dien district, the troops, in coordination with local youths, cleaned the environment and collected waste along the beach.
In the framework of the program, the delegation visited and presented 100 gifts to policy households and 200 gifts to needy fishermen, worth VND 1 million each, while handing over national flags, medicines, raincoats … to poor people in the locality.
The command also worked with Hung Vuong Hospital and District No.2 Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to provide free health checkups and medicines to 500 local people.
At Hung Vuong Secondary School in Long Dien town, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command held a contest themed "I love national sea and islands" for students of the secondary schools of Hung Vuong, Nguyen Cong Tru, and Pham Hong Thai, and offered 150 scholarships and 20 bicycles to needy students in the locality.
