The event was attended by Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command Major General Bui Quoc Oai and Head of the Military Youth Advisory Board Colonel Tran Viet Nang.
During the event, the delegation offered incense at Ly Son island district's War Cemetery, and together with the local youths, collected waste at the ship lock in An Hai commune. In addition, they also disseminated information about national sea and islands, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing to the islanders. An art exchange was also held on this occasion.
Besides, the Coast Guard Region 2 and other enterprises also presented 155 gifts to policy households and needy fishermen; offered 27 bicycles and 40 scholarships to needy students; handed over medicines and 5,000 national flags to fishermen, and more. Meanwhile, the Military Youth Advisory Board also granted 10 gifts to poor islanders.
The program aimed to raise islanders' awareness of law while operating at sea, and help them to overcome difficulties to both develop economy and join hands with forces to protect national sovereignty over sea and islands.
This is the third time the Coast Guard Region 2 Command has implemented the program in Ly Son island district. Over the past time, the unit has promoted its pioneering role in law implementation, ensuring national security, order and safety at sea, conducting search and rescue missions.
Here are some images recorded at the program.
