At the meeting, Commanding Officer Senior Colonel Chu Van Tan delivered a report on the local border guards' outstanding achievements last year.
In particular, the provincial border guard force completed their assigned political duies, proactively worked with other local forces to thoroughly grasp situations at sea and on land to deal with emerging situations in a timely manner, contributing to safeguarding sovereignty and security at the border areas.
The local border guards enhanced patrols, uncovered a number of drug trafficking cases, organized courses to raise public awareness of the Party's guideline, the State's policies and of not violating foreign waters. They also presented 13,000 national flags, 1,600 portraits of Uncle Ho to fishermen and people in sea border areas, and provided free medicines and health checkups for 300 local people. They gave Tet gifts to 346 needy beneficiary families and households.
Notably, the command teamed with coastal district, towns, and cities to establish and maintain operation of seven COVID-19 prevention and control checkpoints at key ports.
Acknowledging and applauding the local border guard force's outcomes, Deputy PM Dam asked the unit to take care of troops' lives, and disadvantaged households in its stationed area.
The deputy PM urged the command to boost coordination with local military and public security forces to give suggestions to the local authorities to handle situations, ensure a cozy and safe Tet for local people and strictly observe combat readiness duties.
On the occasion of the lunar New Year 2022, Deputy PM Dam presented Tet gifts and wished Binh Thuan provincial Border Guard Command a successful year.
