The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued a list of criteria that sports centers and residents who participate in physical activities must meet in order to ensure safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The list includes 10 safety assessment criteria for COVID-19 prevention and control in sport businesses and physical activities.
Local sports venues must meet all six mandatory criteria and two out of four additional ones in order to be eligible for operation.
All staff members have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recovered from the disease within six months.
All employees must be regularly tested for the novel coronavirus in accordance with the Ministry of Health's regulations.
People who participate in sports and physical activities have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recovered from the disease within six months.
Sports venues must collect customers' information via QR codes or health declarations on a daily basis.
All people have to follow basic pandemic prevention measures, namely wearing face masks, sanitizing hands, and keeping safe distance.
Facilities must prepare thermometers, hand sanitizers or soaps at entrances and training areas, as well as disinfect training equipment twice a day.
The minimum density must be 10 square meters per person for outdoor activities, eight square meters per person for stadiums, and six square meters per person for gym centers.
Entrances and exits must be separated.
Various measures must be taken to raise awareness of pandemic prevention and control regulations among customers and staff members.
Facilities must provide contact information of key officials responsible for pandemic safety.
Sport venues must prepare for scenarios where virus carriers are detected during operation.
Vietnam has documented 695,744 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday afternoon, with 464,326 recoveries and 17,305 deaths.
The country has recorded 691,285 local infections in 62 provinces and cities, including 341,699 cases in Ho Chi Minh City, since the fourth wave started on April 27.
The southern city has implemented social distancing measures at various levels since May 31.
