Keir Starmer slammed by Wootton over climate change demands

GB News presenter Dan Wootton has brutally slammed Labour leader Keir Starmer after he attacked Prime Minister Boris Johnson , calling him a "climate delayer". The jab came following the publication of a damning report from the United Nations warning the climate emergency had become so grave it was “code red for humanity”. Mr Wootton slapped down the Labour leader for his comment as he noted China and India played a considerable role in worsening the crisis.

He said on the show: "Have you noticed that the Leader of the Opposition Keir Starmer has become so desperate for a cheap headline he’ll say virtually anything.

"Case in point today is him ludicrously branding Boris Johnson 'a climate delayer' because he reckons the UK is not moving fast enough.

"Starmer said 'the biggest threat we now face is not climate denial but climate delay.

“Those who like our prime minister acknowledge there is a problem but simply don’t have the scale of ambition required to match the moment.

"’O ur communities and planet can no longer afford the inaction of this government who are failing to treat the crisis with the seriousness it deserves ' . "

Mr Wootton continued: " I’d love to know how he came to that conclusion. The problem is that the UK, Mr S tarmer , the problem is China and India and Germany and Canada and the USA.

" We are leading the developed world on cutting carbon emissions at a great cost to our economy .

"Starmer would do better actually , asking how working class folks are going to be able to afford to replace their boilers with 14,000-pound air pumps, and their diesel or petrol cars with electric vehicles. "

Last week, Keir Starmer branded Boris Johnson and his cohort "climate delayers", as he warned that the threat to stem global warming is failure to act with urgency rather than denial.

He believed the PM was "letting the country down" with his inaction on climate change, and pointed out the cabinet rows over the replacement of gas boilers.

He told the Independent: "Paris told us what we have got to do – the ambition to get to 1.5 degrees. But Glasgow has got to deliver the reality of how we get there.

"Just at the point where we need a prime minister that can lead for Britain, we have a prime minister that's letting Britain down."
