Lieutenant General Vu Chien Thang co-chaired the event At the meeting, both sides highly appreciated the results of the bilateral defense cooperation in the fields of military training, United Nations peacekeeping operations and maritime security. These contents have been consistent with the Memorandum of Bilateral Defense Cooperation signed by the two countries’ defense ministers in 2019. Regarding the orientations for the bilateral cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to step up the implementation of the existing cooperation programs, and at the same time to develop a 3-year cooperation plan (2021-2023) as a basis for promoting the current defense cooperation between the two countries. They also reached a consensus on strengthening Vietnam-Canada defense policy dialogue mechanisms, in which the defense consultation should serve as a strong foundation for the two sides to map out cooperation programs for the subsequent years.
