The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been spotted testing again. Spy pics reveal two models, one in Metallic Silver, and the other in Red, were spotted testing near the company’s Chakan facility near Pune.
According to Rushlane, the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is a highly sought after alternative to regular, internal combustion engine scooters.
The all-electric Chetak features a 4kWh motor, and a IP-67 certified, non-removable Lithium-ion battery. Bajaj claims that the range on the scooter stands at 85 kilometers in Sport mode, and 95 kilometers in Eco mode.
Bajaj has positioned the all-new Chetak electric scooter as a premium product, and had loaded the scooter with features like feather-touch switch gear, all LED lighting, a fully digital instrument control, and has given the Chetak electric a premium finish.
Bajaj announced that the service interval for the all-new Chetak electric stands at 15,000 kilometers, and that the battery will arrive with warranty for three years or 50,000 kilometers, whichever come first.
The extended service interval is because electric scooters have fewer moving parts in its drivetrain, translating to lesser wear and tear. Bajaj currently manufactures the Chetak electric scooter at its Chakan facility, and employs an all-women work force to work on the Chetak.
The company said earlier that the Chetak electric would be positioned in the premium segment, and we expect the scooter to be priced between Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Deliveries are expected to begin in January 2020.
In related news, Bajaj Auto recently finished its ‘Chetak Electric Yatra’ that saw 20 Chetak scooters travel over 3,000 kilometers covering most of the major cities in the northern and western parts of the country. To read more, click here.
