The 37-year-old singer was announced as the host of the show, held at The Star in November, this week.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Guy said his own experience at once being roasted by a comedian at a similar awards show turned him off the style of hosting, which has been adopted by other emcees before him.

Guy said the comedian in question ‘tore shreds’ off him and it became really personal.
‘I was so embarrassed, I felt like the whole room was looking at me and everything was swallowing me up. I already had people down on me because of Idol,’ he explained.
The former Australian Idol winner said he was looking forward to setting his own culture at this year’s ARIA Awards, and celebrating Australian talent instead.
