A Volkswagen Touareg displayed at Vietnam Motor Show 2019 in HCM City had a navigation app containing a map with the Chinese claimed nine-dash line in the East Sea. According to the Vietnam General Department of Customs, the 2020 Volkswagen Touareg model was temporarily imported earlier this month to be showcased at the event and slated to be re-exported in February next year. Chinese-imported Volkswagen at Vietnam Motor Show featured nine-dash line Under regulations, Nguyen To An, a representative from Vietnam Register, said that cars which are temporarily imported into Vietnam for exhibition or research purposes do not have to be sent to Vietnam Register. An added that even for other cars, his agency only checks environmental and technical standards. Meanwhile, Volkswagen Vietnam admitted responsibility for this incident, saying that they did not carefully check the car. The company borrowed the car from Chinese partner Beijing-based Volkswagen Group Import Company Limited for Vietnam Motor Show.
