The Vietnamese tourism sector is approaching to the target of welcoming 17.5 -18 million international visitors and serving 85 million domestic tourists in 2019, while earning an estimated total revenue of VND700 trillion (nearly US$30.1 billion). According to information released by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on September 16, the agency has coordinated with many others to successfully organise the programmes promoting Vietnamese tourism in Tokyo city as well as Kanagawa and Hokkaido provinces in Japan. The VNAT also affirmed that Japan is one of the key markets of the Vietnamese tourism sector. The number of Japanese visitors to the country reached nearly 830,000 in 2018 (a year-on-year increase of 3.6%), and over 620,000 in the past months of this year (up 13.7%).
