Meghan Markle is reportedly in the process of becoming an author.
A source close to the Duchess of Sussex has said the former Suits actress has begun writing a children’s book – and apparently, the theme is believed to be about her beloved rescue dogs.
A royal insider told The Sun: “Meghan is going to become a published author and is very excited about it.
“The plans are in the very early stages and won’t be formally announced for some time.
“But she’s very excited about the possibility and is passionate about the idea of a work of fiction for children.
“She loves animals and her rescue dogs so it’s very likely they will be incorporated into the story.
“Any book will absolutely not be some sort of tell-all about her life in the royal family.”
She will be in good company, as Prince Charles previously released a children’s book in 1980 called The Old Man of Lochnagar, while Sarah Ferguson wrote a string of books about Budgie the Helicopter.
Meghan has been particularly busy as of recent, as she was asked to guest-edit an issue of Vogue Magazine – where she announced she was launching a clothing line in aid of charity.
Meghan is teaming up with John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Misha Nonoo and Jigsaw to create a clothing line that will launch in September and benefit one of her patronages, Smart Works.
The charity provides women with an outfit, confidence and the coaching they need to succeed at a job interview.
Writing in the September issue of Vogue, Meghan explained: “When you walk into a Smart Works space you’re met with racks of clothing and an array of bags and shoes.
“Sometimes, however, it can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colours, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.
“To help with this, I asked Marks & Spencer, John Lewis & Partners, Jigsaw and my friend, the designer Misha Nonoo, if they were willing to design a capsule collection of more classic options for a workwear wardrobe.
“Taking the idea further, many of the brands agreed to use the one-for-one model: for each item purchased by a customer, one is donated to the charity. Not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together.”
