Women don ‘ao dai’ to welcome Lunar New Year in Ho Chi Minh City

January 20, 2019 by tuoitrenews.vn

The Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday is always considered as a perfect occasion for Vietnamese girls and women to put on the country's traditional gown ao dai to enjoy the festive atmosphere and take the most vibrant and memorable photos.

The Lunar New Year is just over two weeks away and decorations have already been put up along streets, public venues, and shopping centers in downtown Ho Chi Minh City.

These offer not-to-be-missed photo opportunities and residents have been preparing their best outfits for the occasion.

For girls and women, the 'ao dai' seems to be the best and most favorite choice during the traditional festival.

They can either pick the garments with a conventional design or modern style with shorter sleeves and flaps.

As the 'ao dai' has a male version, many young men and boys also wear it to mark the holiday.

Phan Thi Diem My, a student from a local university, said she and her friends took a bus to the downtown area and walked along the beautifully decorated promenades.

The girls did not forget to take photos of them along with the decorations for the upcoming holiday.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Le Quyen, a 50-year-old resident, considered it a tradition for her family to take pictures with these captivating scenes as a way to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one.
