What were the big moments of the NTAs 2019?
This year’s show brought the audience a night of gaffes and entertainment.
Here’s a rundown of the best bits from the NTAs which took place on January 22, 2018.
Dermot O’Leary’s dig at Holly Willoughby
Referring to Holly’s increasing popularity, he made a quip that she could be after his NTA hosting gig next year.
Taking a playful swipe at the This Morning host, he quipped the event was “one of the few shows on ITV not hosted by Holly Willoughby”.
Piers got in a grump
Piers Morgan was left furious This Morning beat Good Morning Britain to win a National Television Award.
The controversial presenter put on a thunderous face as his arch rivals Holly and Phil scooped the prize for Best Daytime Show.
Phillip said on collecting the award: “Thank you so, so much for voting for us. We never take it for granted. Our This Morning family are amazing.”
Harry and Jamie Redknapp steal the show
Father and son duo Harry and Jamie Redknapp got one of the biggest cheers of the night when they headed on stage to present an award.
The pair shared a joke, where Jamie asked his dad why he was helping him to give out an award.
To which the I’m a Celeb champ joked: “It’s because Sandra (his wife) is at home cooking me jam roly -poly!”
Dani and Jack being “backstage”
The Love Island winners were meant to be hosting the backstage gossip.
However, when host Dermot introduced them being “backstage” (which was meant to be live), producers failed to spot that Jack and Dani were quite visible in the audience shortly after the clip was played.
Danny Divito got booed
The Hollywood actor hit out at the “not nice” audience for booing him when he began to talk about football while on stage.
Before making the award, he told the audience: “This is a big week for me this week. It’s really nice for me to be here.
“I’ve got tryouts. I’m going to get Petr Cech’s job. Go Arsenal.”
He added to the audience “you’re not nice” as they booed his seeming support for Arsenal.
Danny Dyer dropped the f-bomb (of course)
The blunders continued when Danny Dyer picked up the award for Best Serial Drama Performance.
The actor struggled to hold back tears during his emotional speech, while also dropping an awkward f-bomb.
Choking up he said: “I can’t believe that wow! Thank you! I want to thank all my EastEnders mob over there you’re like my brothers and sisters, I just want to say to all you young kids living out there in poverty who don’t think they’ve got a right to dream or hope, do not let that define where you’re going in life, you can whoever you want to be.
“I want to dedicate this award to Harold Pinter, he believed in me when no one else did.”
But as he spoke movingly about the late writer, Danny couldn’t finish his sentence and swore instead.
He said: “I’m getting all f***ing emotional, I don’t know what’s the matter with me, for f***’s sake.”
Ant and Dec scoop Best Presenter
Ant admitted he was “genuinely shocked” as he accepted the award with his presenting partner Declan Donnelly.
The duo got the gong despite Ant being absent from his presenting duties most of the year, due to his legal troubles.
“Thank you this is a genuine shock, especially this year,” he said.
“I’m shaking here, we want to say thank you to everybody, I really don’t feel like I can accept this this year.
“The one reason we’ve won the award this year is because of this guy, his hard work, dedication, wit, funniness and being the best mate there is out there, I love you man, well done.
Ant then pulled Dec in for a hug and said: “It’s good to be back well done pal.”
Ant and Dec were not at the awards bash because they are tied up filming BGT but accepted the award from the London Palladium.

Talking off camera
We’re not sure what was going on with the sound mixer last night, but there was A LOT of talking off camera that could be heard by the audience.
It all started when This Morning won Best Daytime, and Dermot could be heard talking to Holly off-mic.
Later, viewers could then hear the host as he chatted to Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds star Lily as nominations were announced.
Danny DeVito was also not spared the curse of the errant mic as he took to the stage.
His voice could be heard as the nominations VT aired, with the Hollywood legend sounding confused as he asked a producer: “Oh you want me to say the names? They asked me not to say the names.”
