At the working session, Deputy PM Dam praised its socio-economic development results in 2018 while asking the province to put more efforts into developing agriculture and forestry. He also urged Bac Kan to pay attention to education and healthcare, especially in disadvantaged communes. Deputy PM Dam extended his best wishes to all the officials and people of Bac Kan province for the upcoming Lunar New Year. For his part, Bac Kan Chairman Ly Thai Hai expected the government to continue supporting the province to improve its infrastructure and its educational and medical equipment, as well as to build boarding schools. Last year, the gross domestic product of Bac Kan rose by 5.9% with GDP per capita reaching VND30.6 million (over US$1,300) a year, up VND2.2 million from a year earlier. As part of his visit to Bac Kan, Deputy PM Dam also offered incense at a local historical site, visited teachers and students of a boarding school and presented gifts to poor households in the province.
