The construction of the project was commenced in December 2017 with a total investment of VND312 billion (US$13.41 million) which includes a 271m-overpass and the adjustment of the structure of the 1.1km-Huu Hong dike from Thang Loi Hotel to An Duong gate. This is the 11th overpass of its kind in Hanoi and one of the eight urgent construction works in the capital city to reduce traffic congestion. According to Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, the opening of the overpass not only addresses traffic jams but also help to consolidate the dyke in order to prevent floods and embellish the city. “From the efficiency of this project, the city will study to implement the adjustment of the road from Thang Loi Hotel to the Nhat Tan Bridge,” the Chairman said. The opening ceremony also saw the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai.
