The event, the 18th of its kind, was in response to the Month for the Poor (October 17 – November 18, 2018) to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction in many dimensions between now and 2020.
Speaking at the event, Chairwoman of the municipal VFF chapter To Thi Bich Chau said the municipal Party Committee and authorities always pay attention to local lives, especially the poor, low-income workers and those without stable jobs.
She said the best way to reduce poverty is generating more jobs and creating a skilled workforce base.
Over the past 18 years, the municipal VFF chapter and its members at all levels have raised more than 1.7 trillion VND in support of poor and near-poor households and orphan children.
They built about 29,000 gratitude houses, repaired over 15,400 others, and presented more than 43,500 scholarships and 10,000 vehicles to poor children.-VNA
