While on a comprehensive and time-consuming official tour of a number of sites in Anguilla, Lord Ahmad, the UK Minister for the Overseas Territories, took the opportunity to make two private visits along the route. The first was to Anguilla’s latest centenarian, Mrs. Miriam Richardson-Hodge, of Long Bay, and her family. It was on the same day, May 28, that the well-known resident attained her 100th birthday. Lord Ahmad and Governor Tim Foy presented a Birthday Card from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth ll, to Mrs. Richardson-Hodge. The message, read by the Governor, stated: “I am so pleased to know that you are celebrating your 100th birthday on the 28th of May, 2018. I send my congratulations and best wishes to you on such a special occasion. Both Lord Ahmad and Governor Foy extended their personal congratulations to Mrs. Richardson-Hodge. The centenarian’s son-in-law, Mr. Wilbur Harrigan, expressed thanks and appreciation to the Queen, Lord Ahmad and the Governor on behalf of the family. Lord Ahmad, who had previous written Lady Gumbs while he was in London, repeated his condolences to her.
