Singapore are set to be the venue of the US-DPRK summit on June 12 (Photo: AFP/VNA) Seoul (VNA) – Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Singapore on May 14 vowed to work together to support the upcoming summit between the US and the Democratic People’s Republic Korea (DPRK) in the Southeast Asian country. RoK Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and her Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan held phone talks ahead of the June 12 summit between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un. The ministers shared the view that the US – DPRK Summit will serve as a crucial opportunity for the DPRK’s denuclearisation and the establishment of peace on the Korean peninsula and beyond. During their talks, Kang explained Seoul’s ongoing policy efforts for the complete denuclearisation and a lasting peace on the peninsula, as well as the process of how Seoul prepared for the summit between RoK President Moon Jae-in and Kim in April. At their summit in Singapore, Trump and Kim are expected to discuss the method and timeline of the DPRK’s denuclearisation process, which Seoul hopes to help bring about a lasting peace on the divided peninsula.-VNA
