The Vietnamese general noted that the Vietnam-Australia relations in general and the bilateral defense ties in particular have been developing in a deeper manner and substantially effectively. The host thanked the Australian Department of Defense for its support for Vietnam in English training and in improving other capabilities for the Vietnamese peacekeeping force. Besides, the two sides have also actively cooperated in such fields as military medicine, engineering, maritime security, counter-terrorism experience sharing, etc.
For the guest, Mr. Scott Dewar stressed that in the next 10 years, Australia will further expand defense cooperation with other countries, of which Vietnam is one of its priorities. He also confirmed that the Australian Government and Defense Forces consider defense ties with Vietnam one of the important components in the Vietnam-Australia bilateral relations.
* The same afternoon, General Nam hosted a delegation of the US Marine Corps University, which is on a field trip to Vietnam. He highly appreciated the visit, hoping that members of the delegation would learn more about the land and people of Vietnam as well as the Vietnam People’s Army, which will in turn contribute to developing the relations between the armed forces of the two countries for the sake of each nation, peace and development in the region and the world.
