The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) has agreed on airlines’ plans to increase domestic flights during the Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) to meet the growing demands of passengers.
Meanwhile, the low-cost airlines Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific will increase 560 and 330 flights, offering additional 100,800 seats and 59,400 seats, respectively.
The total additional domestic flights during the period will be 1,270, up 8.5% over the figure during normal days.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in the southern largest economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City will see the highest number of arrival and departure flights with 1,065 extra flights, increasing by 7.7% compared to the usual schedule. The airport will serve 807 flights per day at peak time.
Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, plans to increase its domestic flights before Tet to an average of 111 flights per day. The earliest flight starts at 5.30am and the latest, at 11.30pm. Flights from Hanoi to HCM City, by far the most heavily trafficked route, will increase from 20 to 44 per day. Hanoi Times - on January 24, the Ministry of Finance signed the decision to allow Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines to increase the domestic flight fare to VND 1.7 million instead of VND 1.5 million as before. PANO - The national flag-carrier, Vietnam Airlines (VNA) announced on July 3rd that it will conduct more 1,350 flights on 12 domestic routes to meet increasing travel demand during the summer holiday between July 1st and August 15th. HA NOI — Vietnam Airlines plans to add six additional flights to the Ha Noi - Nha Trang route, four flights to the HCM City - Nha Trang route and ten flights to the HCM City - Phu Quoc link. The low-cost airline Pacific Airlines (PA) started to sell airfares on five new domestic flights as from February 13, 2008. These are three flights from Hanoi to Hue, Danang and Nha Trang and two flights from Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City to Dalat and Buon Me Thuot. The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines (VNA), has announced that it will launch seven direct flights a week between Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur from June 16, raising the total number of flights from Hanoi to Malaysia to 21 every week.
