(VOVworld) – The Bac Ninh Festival 2014 opened on Saturday to highlight the national cultural identity and local historical relics on the way for development and integration.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that the festival will raise the cultural and historical values of the province while promoting the preservation of historical relics. Two local pagodas were conferred with a certificate of national special relic recognition. The festival takes place every 4 years since the Quan Ho folk singing was recognized by the UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The Bac Ninh Festival, a major cultural event in the north every four years, which opens tonight, Mar 15 and runs until Mar 17, gathers some 6,000 local artisans and artists this year. Kinh Bac Cultural Center in Bac Ninh city tonight, features a host of activities including processions and offerings, exhibitions of provincial press publications and a competition of ornamental birds and fish. The 2010 Bac Ninh Festival will be held at the national level at the Kinh Bac cultural centre, said Nguyen Dang Tuc, Head of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on April 1. Party and State leaders, representatives from Ministries, Agencies and Embassies and Ly clan representatives from the Republic of Korea will attend the opening ceremony on April 17. According to Tran Nhan Chien, Vice chairman of Bac Ninh provincial People's Committee, the province will organize the Bac Ninh festival 2010 from April 14th to 18th to welcome the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi. The Bac Ninh Festival 2010, themed "Bac Ninh Culture - Convergence and Shining", will be held in Bac Ninh city from April 14-18. The information was released at a press conference held by the provincial People's Committee at the Kinh Bac Culture Centre on March 31. Yen Tu Buddhist Spring Festival 2014 opened at the Yen Tu historical site in Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh Province City on February 9. Over 250,000 people cam to Yen Tu, according to the festival's organization board. The Number is expected to increase to 4 million attendees.
