(CPV) – The 21st South East Asian Zoos Association (SEAZA) conference 2013, themed “South East Asian Zoos grow together”, was opened on November 18 in Ho Chi Minh city by Thao Cam Vien Sai Gon. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Le Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, said that with the participation of nearly 200 delegates from 20 countries and territories, the conference is a forum for managers, scientists and zoos in the region to share interests and effective solutions to promote Southeast Asian zoos growing together, as the theme of this conference. At the conference, participants shared knowledge, experiences, innovative ideas and initiatives, and strengthened friendships for the benefit of zoo communities in the SEAZA. Six topics the participants focused discussions on include breeding and zoo veterinary services, marketing and zoo education, biodiversity and conservation, zoo design and environment enrichment, ethical standards in animal care, and multiplication and animal habit. The conference will end on November 20. SEAZA was established in 1990 in Indonesia and now has 12 members./.
