Two Vietnamese-Americans, Thuy Vu and Chau Nguyen, have recently become well-known women anchors for American television shows.
Three-time Emmy award winner Thuy Vu is currently a co-host of “Eye on the Bay”, a CBS5 evening magazine program.
After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley, Thuy, 37, began her journalism career in public radio at KQED-FM in San Francisco, then worked at ABC7 as an anchor and reporter. She joined the CBS San Jose bureau, where she currently works, in December 2005.
Like well-known Leyna Nguyen, Betty Nguyen and Thuy Vu, Chau Nguyen is also hosting a television show in the US.
The 39-year-old began her career early in college when she was asked to be a full-time desk editor at KRIV-TV. She transitioned to other television shows as an anchor and reporter and then returned to KRIV-TV. After that she spent three years reporting for WGCL-TV in Atlanta before joining KHOU. She is currently a psychology expert.
