Nhan Dan – The Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia Association for Economic Co-operation and Development (VILACAED) introduced the Mekong Times newspaper in Hanoi on October 23.
The newspaper, the voice of VILACAED, aims to disseminate Party and State guidelines for policies and laws, and provide information on current and social affairs in Southeast Asia and around the world.
It is also an important forum which will contribute to promoting economic and cultural between countries in the Mekong sub-region.
It will be circulated every two weeks in Vietnamese during the fourth quarter of 2011 and once a week in both Vietnamese and English beginning in early 2012 .
Viet Nam's Urban Environmental Planning Program (UEPP- VN) which is sponsored by the European Commission to Viet Nam will improve the conditions in the Mekong Delta. The debut in Can Tho city was made in 2006. Over 200 representatives and authorities from the EC, the Mekong provinces, social associations and consultant companies have participated in the debuting ceremony. The EC will hand over EUR3 million to Viet Nam for the cooperation program supervised by the Ministry of Construction. Eight projects are planned, starting in early 2006.
