Vietnam Next Top Model 7th season kicks off next month

The seventh season of Vietnam Next Top Model will kick off with casting rounds in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in May, according to an April 14 announcement by the producers. The first episode of the new season will air every Sunday evening on VTV3 channel beginning July 17. Several past Vietnam Next Top Model winners have gone on to join international fashion events, said the producers, and we hope to find more successful candidates this season. They said past promising candidates included such high profile names as Huyen Trang, Tuyet Lan, Hoang Thuy, Kha My Van, Mau Thuy, Cha Mi, Van Kien and Tuan Viet to name only a few. Well-known model Kha My Van (Cinet) - Well-known model Kha My Van has become the first Vietnamese model to walk down the catwalk at Paris Haute Couture Week 2015. (VOV) - Top 16 of the 2014 Vietnam Next Top Model contest have entered the second competition part themed "Gothic&Punk". Nguyen Oanh from Hai Duong city came first in this part. She is 18 years old and 1.80m tall. The audition round for Vietnam's Next Top Model 2014 kicked off in Hanoi on August 20 and in Ho Chi Minh City on August 26. Hanoi jail holds transgender prisoner in solitary confinement

A transgender model who rose to fame after participating in two televised reality shows was put into solitary confinement, on Tuesday, after officials at the Hanoi jail said they couldn't determine where to house her. Prison officials said they finally sent Tram Anh, whose given name is Nguyen Van Hieu, into a separate cell, after determining it was not "okay" to put the transgender prisoner into either male or female holding cell. "It is not okay for a transgender woman to share a room with other male prisoners," Lieutenant General Ta Xuan Binh of the Ministry of Public Security told Thanh Nien News. "However, other female prisoners objected to being housed in the same cell with the arrestee. As such, we had to arrange a separate room [for her]". Transgender Vietnamese TV star arrested in ecstasy deal

A Facebook photo of transgender TV star Tram Anh who was arrested in Hanoi on September 29, 2014 while attempting to resell 2.6 grams of ecstasy. Hanoi police arrested a transgender television star for allegedly attempting to resell ten ecstasy pills. Tram Anh was arrested half an hour after midnight on Monday with the pills which amount to around 2.6 grams of the drug. She said a person named Hung had ordered the pills and she had gone to pick them up from a person named Tuan for VND2 million (US$94). She planned to make a VND500,000 profit on the deal. The police say they arrested her with an accomplice named Nguyen Huu Dat, 19, during the transaction. Anh was born a boy under the name Nguyen Van Hieu but grew her hair long and began to act and dress like a girl in the first grade.
