Visitors flock to spiritual destinations in Mekong Delta this year

HCM CITY (VNS) — Thousands of tourists travelled to spiritual destinations in Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta for Tet (Lunar New Year) this year. The Tay An pagoda, Hang pagoda, Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb and Ba Chua Xu Temple in An Giang Province received more than 350,000 visitors between February 8-14, said Tran Thi Tuyet Em, head of the Sam Mountain Monuments Management Board. Compared to last year's holiday period, there were 100,000 more visitors this year, Em said. Traffic congestion was worse this year because of the influx of visitors. Mekong Delta localities cooperate to boost tourism development

Over 180,000 visitors to the relic site of Uncle Ho’s father

Dong Thap: Ancient trees win heritage honour

The 326-year-old Sop (Ficus pisocarpa Blume) tree (Source: A 287-year-old carambola tree and a 326-year-old Sop (Ficus pisocarpa Blume) tree in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap have been recognised as national heritage trees. Certificates of the recognition were handed over to local authorities by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) at a ceremony held in the locality on December 18. The trees, which are the first heritage trees of Dong Thap, are standing in the memorial site of Nguyen Sinh Sac, who is late President Ho Chi Minh’s father, in Cao Lanh city since 1977 as a gift from the Ngo Van Hay family. During the two resistance wars, the Ngo Van Hay family dug cellars under the trees to provide shelters for revolutionaries. Binh Dinh to get tough on foot-dragging investor
