Toyota Classics returns to Ho Chi Minh City The 14th Toyota Classics is expected to leave a deep impression on Ho Chi Minh City audiences on the night of November 11. Under the baton of Canadian conductor Charles Olivieri-Munroe, who has been the NCPT's chief conductor since 1997, the 175-year-old philharmonic will play world famous classical music. In Ha Noi on November 5, their repertoire will include the Intermezzo from the opera Goyescas by W. A. Mozart, the Overtune to the opera The Secret by Bedrich Smetana, the Hommage a Mozart by Jacques Ibert, and excerpts from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. HCMC Opera House hosts Toyota Classics Concert

The 14th Toyota Classics Concert will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on Nov 3. Toyota Classics 2011 poster. Event organizers, the Toyota Motor Corporation and the Vietnam Performing Arts Center, said in a press release that this year's event will feature the return of the Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra will perform with "exciting new arrangements" under the batons of Thomas Dorsch, Pamela Nicholson and Vasko Vassilev, the press release said. Young Vietnamese soprano Pham Thi Duyen Huyen will also perform along with the orchestra. Local diva joins visiting orchestra for City concert

The Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with artists from around the world in HCM City on Nov. 3. Conducted by Thomas Dorsch, the concert will feature 15 masterpieces played by pianist Pamela Nicholson and violinist Vasco Vassilev, accompanied by Vietnamese soprano Pham Thi Duyen Huyen. The orchestra, founded in 1993 with the merging of the Greifswald and Stralsund theatres, has become internationally acclaimed. Today, Toyota Motor Vietnam officially introduced the Toyota Classics 2011, which will take place in Ho Chi Minh City Theatre on November 3. This is the 14th Toyota Classics held in Vietnam by Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Vietnam in cooperation with Vietnam Performing Arts Centre under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Department of Performing Arts, since its debut in 1997. Campaign to be launched to encourage people to wear standard helmets

National flag pole inaugurated on northeastern island

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Standing Committee and the Vietnam Students’ Association in the northern province of Quang Ninh on August 22nd inaugurated a national flag pole after 5 months of construction. The pole was built in celebration of the 84th year of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. It also holds great significance in raising the responsibility over protecting the sea and island sovereignty among young people across the country in general and those in Quang Ninh province in particular. The pole which is 22.6 metres high was built beside the navy radar station 480, the highest point on Tran island with a capital of nearly VND2 billion. Hanoi Autumn Music Festival celebrates 70th anniversary of National Day

A performance at the festival NDO – The Hanoi Fall Music Festival, featuring a wide variety of cultural and arts programmes, was held on August 23 in ten different public locations around the capital. The festival kicked off with numerous performances of classical music and vibrant pop music in front of the Vincom shopping centre at 191 Ba Trieu Street and at Hanoi Railway Station at 118 Le Duan Street.
