Toyota Classics returns to Ho Chi Minh City The 14th Toyota Classics is expected to leave a deep impression on Ho Chi Minh City audiences on the night of November 11. Under the baton of Canadian conductor Charles Olivieri-Munroe, who has been the NCPT's chief conductor since 1997, the 175-year-old philharmonic will play world famous classical music. In Ha Noi on November 5, their repertoire will include the Intermezzo from the opera Goyescas by W. A. Mozart, the Overtune to the opera The Secret by Bedrich Smetana, the Hommage a Mozart by Jacques Ibert, and excerpts from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. HCMC Opera House hosts Toyota Classics Concert

The 14th Toyota Classics Concert will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on Nov 3. Toyota Classics 2011 poster. Event organizers, the Toyota Motor Corporation and the Vietnam Performing Arts Center, said in a press release that this year's event will feature the return of the Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra will perform with "exciting new arrangements" under the batons of Thomas Dorsch, Pamela Nicholson and Vasko Vassilev, the press release said. Local diva joins visiting orchestra for City concert

The Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with artists from around the world in HCM City on Nov. 3. Conducted by Thomas Dorsch, the concert will feature 15 masterpieces played by pianist Pamela Nicholson and violinist Vasco Vassilev, accompanied by Vietnamese soprano Pham Thi Duyen Huyen. The orchestra, founded in 1993 with the merging of the Greifswald and Stralsund theatres, has become internationally acclaimed. Today, Toyota Motor Vietnam officially introduced the Toyota Classics 2011, which will take place in Ho Chi Minh City Theatre on November 3. National contest brings together around 250 computer lovers NDO – The 21st National Youth Informatics Contest opened in Binh Duong province on July 31, bringing together nearly 250 competitors across the country. The contestants are divided into five groups - elementary, secondary and high school students, software creation and hardware programming. Young overseas Vietnamese tour Ba Ria-Vung Tau

Vietnamese young expatriates taking part in the 2015 Vietnam Summer Camp landed in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and paid courtesy visits to provincial leaders on July 28. Participants paid tribute to the memorial area honouring martyr Vo Thi Sau, a national heroine who fought against the French colonialists, and visited former revolutionary bases in the province. Nguyen Phan Bao Linh, an 18-year-old expatriate in the Ukraine, said this was the first time she has visited the home of the martyr, adding that she is proud of and greatly admires the teenage heroine. HCM City: Over 100 youth join volunteer activities in Laos

Candle vigil held to commemorate fallen soldiers nationwide

During their twelve-day stay in Laos, the Vietnamese youth plan to provide free health care and medicine to local residents, in addition to offering instruction on food safety and prevention of malaria, dengue fever, encephalitis and plague. They are also scheduled to transfer agricultural and forestry techniques and knowledge to the locals and help train students in computer skills.
