Toyota Classics returns to Ho Chi Minh City The 14th Toyota Classics is expected to leave a deep impression on Ho Chi Minh City audiences on the night of November 11. Under the baton of Canadian conductor Charles Olivieri-Munroe, who has been the NCPT's chief conductor since 1997, the 175-year-old philharmonic will play world famous classical music. In Ha Noi on November 5, their repertoire will include the Intermezzo from the opera Goyescas by W. A. Mozart, the Overtune to the opera The Secret by Bedrich Smetana, the Hommage a Mozart by Jacques Ibert, and excerpts from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. HCMC Opera House hosts Toyota Classics Concert

The 14th Toyota Classics Concert will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on Nov 3. Toyota Classics 2011 poster. Event organizers, the Toyota Motor Corporation and the Vietnam Performing Arts Center, said in a press release that this year's event will feature the return of the Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra will perform with "exciting new arrangements" under the batons of Thomas Dorsch, Pamela Nicholson and Vasko Vassilev, the press release said. Local diva joins visiting orchestra for City concert

The Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with artists from around the world in HCM City on Nov. 3. Conducted by Thomas Dorsch, the concert will feature 15 masterpieces played by pianist Pamela Nicholson and violinist Vasco Vassilev, accompanied by Vietnamese soprano Pham Thi Duyen Huyen. The orchestra, founded in 1993 with the merging of the Greifswald and Stralsund theatres, has become internationally acclaimed. Today, Toyota Motor Vietnam officially introduced the Toyota Classics 2011, which will take place in Ho Chi Minh City Theatre on November 3. This is the 14th Toyota Classics held in Vietnam by Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Vietnam in cooperation with Vietnam Performing Arts Centre under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Department of Performing Arts, since its debut in 1997. Construction of national sovereignty flag tower kicked off on Mat Island

Flagpole built on outpost island of Nghe An province

The pole will have the main side carrying the pole’s coordinates and looking towards the sea. It will be hung with the national flag measuring 4x6m. The construction costs 1.25 billion VND (over 59,500 USD) and is carried out by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCYUCC) and the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation No.4. It is scheduled to be completed on the occasion of the 84th anniversary of the establishment of the Youth Union in March. Mat Island is 24km off the mainland and has an area of 2.2 square kilometres. The construction is the first under a co-operation programme between the Youth Union and Cienco 4 to build flagpoles at five national outposts, including Mat Island in Nghe An, Son Duong Island in Ha Tinh, Hon Me Island in Thanh Hoa, Cham Island in Quang Nam, and Son Cha Island in Thua Thien – Hue. The 22.66 metre tall pole is built on a base of 30 square metres with a flag measuring 4x6 metres. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong, Head of the Party Central Committee Office, affirmed that the exhibition displayed over 200 precious photos, documents and artifacts, bringing vivid images and items of interest to visitors, especially young people. Hoi An to host fourth Vietnam International Choir Competition Hoi An has again been chosen by Interkultur (Germany) to host the 4th Viet Nam International Choir Competition. The competition will take place over five days from April 29 with 1,500 artists from 15 countries and territories — Australia, Finland, Germany, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand , and Viet Nam – taking part. Around 15,000 units of blood collected in Blood Donation Festival

Thousansds of students and young people joined the blood donation festival "Red Sunday 2015" which was held at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on January 25.
