Toyota Classics returns to Ho Chi Minh City The 14th Toyota Classics is expected to leave a deep impression on Ho Chi Minh City audiences on the night of November 11. Under the baton of Canadian conductor Charles Olivieri-Munroe, who has been the NCPT's chief conductor since 1997, the 175-year-old philharmonic will play world famous classical music. In Ha Noi on November 5, their repertoire will include the Intermezzo from the opera Goyescas by W. A. Mozart, the Overtune to the opera The Secret by Bedrich Smetana, the Hommage a Mozart by Jacques Ibert, and excerpts from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. HCMC Opera House hosts Toyota Classics Concert

The 14th Toyota Classics Concert will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on Nov 3. Toyota Classics 2011 poster. Event organizers, the Toyota Motor Corporation and the Vietnam Performing Arts Center, said in a press release that this year's event will feature the return of the Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra will perform with "exciting new arrangements" under the batons of Thomas Dorsch, Pamela Nicholson and Vasko Vassilev, the press release said. Local diva joins visiting orchestra for City concert

The Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with artists from around the world in HCM City on Nov. 3. Conducted by Thomas Dorsch, the concert will feature 15 masterpieces played by pianist Pamela Nicholson and violinist Vasco Vassilev, accompanied by Vietnamese soprano Pham Thi Duyen Huyen. The orchestra, founded in 1993 with the merging of the Greifswald and Stralsund theatres, has become internationally acclaimed. Today, Toyota Motor Vietnam officially introduced the Toyota Classics 2011, which will take place in Ho Chi Minh City Theatre on November 3. This is the 14th Toyota Classics held in Vietnam by Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Vietnam in cooperation with Vietnam Performing Arts Centre under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Department of Performing Arts, since its debut in 1997. Education sector vows to create smoke-free environment

A meeting was held at the Hanoi National University of Education on May 29 in response to World No Tobacco Day (May 31) and the 2015 National No Tobacco Week. The education sector has implemented numerous activities on building a green and healthy learning environment and preventing the harmful effects of tobacco, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia said. Summer of volunteering kicks off in Thai Nguyen

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union launched its summer volunteering campaign in northern Thai Nguyen province on May 28. The summer programme runs through August with a range of activities, including the provision of free check-ups and medicine to disadvantaged communities, blood donation campaigns, and a musical concert to cheer up patients at Thai Nguyen General Hospital. Festival raises youth’s traffic culture

PANO – Over 3,000 youths took part in the festival entitled "Youths with traffic culture" in Vi Thanh City of the Southern province of Hau Giang on May 24th. Viettel to organize military semester for children

PANO - The military-run telecom group, Viettel, will work with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee to organize a military semester, themed "I’m a soldier", for children aged from 7 to 15, on June 11th. 400 paintings for national children’s painting exhibition

About 400 paintings selected from 34,250 entries submitted for a painting contest launched for children in 574 schools nationwide will be displayed at an exhibition in Hanoi on May 27th to celebrate the International Children’s Day (June 1st). The paintings will show children’s love for their families and teachers as well as scenes of student life.
