Transport Ministry asks for airfare reduction on short-haul routes Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang has recently issued a directive on reducing airfares on short-haul domestic routes, aiming to promote socio-economic development in disadvantage areas. Thang asked the airlines operating in Vietnam to promptly study and offer fare incentive policies for short-haul flights under 500 kilometres, and conduct price registration and listing in accordance with regulations. The airfare cuts will enable the people living in the remote, isolated, border and island areas to use air traffic and make contributions to boosting local socio-economic development. Free surgeries provided to 150 children with cleft lips and palates

Representatives of Amway Vietnam and Operation Smile Vietnam at a surgery programme for children in Hanoi NDO - Free surgeries were provided to 150 children in Nghe An province and the surrounding areas with cleft lips and palates from November 17 to 21 in 115 Hospital, Vinh City, Nghe An province. The surgeries were conducted by Nghe An province’s Fund for Children, Operation Smile Vietnam and Amway Vietnam. More children provided free surgeries for cleft palates

PANO - A program to offer free medical checks and surgery to children with facial deformities was launched in Hanoi on July 7th by Amway Vietnam Co. Ltd., Operation Smile Organization and Vietnam-Cuba Hospital. Accordingly, by July 11th, doctors will operate on 100 children with cleft lips and cleft palates and other facial deformities from Hanoi and some Northern provinces. Another Amway factory shaping up in Binh Duong

(VOV) - Amway Vietnam Co, Ltd under the auspices of US Amway Corporation officially broke ground on construction of its second factory in Vietnam on March 21. With an initial investment of over US$25 million, the factory located in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) in Tan Uyen district in the southern Binh Duong province, will be built on an area of nearly 55,000 square metres. The facility is seven times larger than its first one located in Bien Hoa City-based Amata Industrial Park, in the southern province Dong Nai. US-based company builds second factory in Vietnam

Amway Vietnam Co. Ltd., a multi-level marketing enterprise, started construction of its second factory in Vietnam in the southern province of Binh Duong on March 21. While direct selling or multi-level marketing is legal in many countries, including Vietnam, the sector has faced criticisms due to unscrupulous firms. The sector has revealed some limitations in terms of business practices and ethics. To deal with some of the negative publicity associated with the actions of a tiny minority of firms engaged in the Vietnamese market, the Multi-level Marketing Association of Vietnam and the Direct Selling Business Association under the American Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam) have worked together to develop a code of ethics for companies and individuals engaged in direct selling in Vietnam, claimed Phan Duc Que from the Competition Authority, Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade. More investment projects licensed in Binh Duong

The People's Committee of the southern Binh Duong province on August 27 held a ceremony to grant licences to 23 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects and two domestic ones, with total capital worth nearly 220 million USD. Among the projects, 12 are invested by Japanese businesses. Several projects with large investment capital include a new paper packaging plant of Japan's Tomuku company valued at 47.6 million USD and Amway Vietnam's 21.1 million USD investment for a functional food factory. By August 15, the province attracted a total of 2,174 FDI projects with aggregate capital of over 18 billion USD.
